Situation: You want to know how to back up your file to avoid data loss.
Applicable to: ColorOS 5.1 an above devices. Check your ColorOS version in [Settings] > [About Phone].

Reminders before backing up files

• Get to know the different backup methods and choose one according to the data that you need to back up.
• After the backup has been completed, copy and transfer your data again as an alternate backup to prevent data loss or damage.
• To support and complete the whole backup process, make sure the battery level of the OPPO smartphone is over 50%, and don't turn off or restart your phone during the backup process.
• It is recommended to use a network connection when doing the backup process. Wi-Fi network is preferred.

Ways to back up your data 

If you use your OPPO phone on a regular basis, having a reliable backup is essential in case something goes wrong.

1. Use the built-in backup tool. Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Back up and reset] and tap [Backup & Restore]. All your personal data, system data, and applications will be backed up to the phone storage.
2. Back up to Google. Go to [Settings] > [Additional Settings] > [Back up and reset] and turn on [Back up my data]. You can back up your app data, Wi-Fi data, and other settings to the Google server.
3. Use the OPPO Cloud. OPPO Cloud allows you to sync the Contacts, Photos, and SMS to the cloud drive. You need to register or sign in using your OPPO account first.
4. Connect your phone to a computer to create a backup on it. This is a common way to back up all your data. Don't disconnect your phone during the backup process.

1. Plug your OPPO phone into power, or keep the battery level over 40%.
2. The update process takes some time.

Do not operate or power off your device during the process.

1. DO NOT root the phone yourself, for that might cause damage to your system, and the warranty service will be terminated immediately.

Complete these steps to successfully update the device wirelessly:

 1. Connect to a working Wi-Fi or Mobile network. The system will automatically show new updates if any. You can see a notification on the "System updates" icon, otherwise, it will show "It is already the latest version".

 

2. Download the firmware. Download under a Wi-Fi network to avoid the consumption of your mobile data.

3. Tap [System Updates]. Your device will reboot and start updating, which will take a few minutes.
